Notification No.28/2020 concerning the prohibition of the importation of HCFCs/ R-22 based split and window type air conditioners, enter into force on 1st July 2020.
The Ministry of Natural resources and Environmental Conservation issued the Notification No.28/2020, dated 2nd April 2020, concerning the prohibition of the importation of HCFCs/ R-22 based split and window type air conditioner equipment (2.5 horsepower and below in air-conditioning (AC) equipment). The import ban of the HCFCs/ R-22 based split and window type air conditioner will enter into force on 1st July 2020. The objective of this import prohibition is to reduce and phase out the use of hydrochlorofluorocarbon ((HCFCs/R-22) that can destroy the ozone layer.
