This measure (Notification No. 22/2019) provides for the requirement to apply for the import license. A person who wants to import this commodity needs to apply for the import license at the Ministry of Commerce. The objective of this measure is to regulate trade in line with the applicable international trade rules and standards. |

Limiting the Residues and Restriction the Use of Substances on Food

A. SANITARY AND PHYTOSANITARY MEASURES |
The measure (Chapter 10, para 22 (d)) provides to restrict the tolerance limits for residues of substances on food. No one shall import food containing agricultural chemical in excess of the maximum permissible level determined by the authority concerned. The objectives of the measure are to enable the public to consume food of genuine quality, free from danger and hygienic, to prevent the public from consuming food that may cause danger or are injurious to health, to supervise production of controlled food systemically, to control and regulate the production, import, export, storage, distribution and sale of food systematically. |

Hygienic Requirement for Food

A. SANITARY AND PHYTOSANITARY MEASURES |
The measure (Chapter 10, Para 22 (a, f) provides the hygienic requirement on food. No one shall import the food that may be poisonous, dangerous or injurious to the health of the consumer, food containing putrid, deteriorated substance or substance unfit for human consumption. The objectives of the measure are to enable the public to consume food of genuine quality, free from danger and hygienic, to prevent the public from consuming food that may cause danger or are injurious to health, to supervise production of controlled food systemically, to control and regulate the production, import, export, storage, distribution and sale of food systematically. |

Authorization Requirement for Importing Nuclear Material, Radioactive Material or Irradiation Apparatus

B. TECHNICAL BARRIERS TO TRADE |
This measure (Chapter 9, Para 21) provides the requirement to receive the permit from the relevant agency. A person desirous of importing any kind of nuclear material, radioactive material or irradiation apparatus shall, before applying for import-export permit or license to the relevant Government Department or Organization, apply to the Department of Atomic Energy in order to obtain prior permission. The objectives of the measure are to develop atomic energy utilization in the State, to ensure safety in utilization of atomic energy in the State, to lay down and carry out measures for prevention of atomic radiation effects on man and environment. |

Labelling Requirement for Food

This measure (Chapter 10, Para 22, h and i) provides for the requirement to label the information directly related to food safety. No one shall import the food, on the label of which property not included in it is wrongly stated, food which does not include the information to be stated, as determined by the relevant government department or organization which is authorized to issue the license. The measure (Chapter 8, Para 18) provides the system approach which needed for the conformity assessment. A person who imports food shall strictly abide by the order, directive and conditions issued by the relevant agency in respect of quality assurance of food, labelling and advertisement.
