Procedure for the importation of cattle and buffalo into Myanmar
Step (1)
Importer shall apply import recommendation along with supporting documents to the Livestock Breeding and Veterinary Department (LBVD).
- The application with the company letterhead that addressing to the Director General of LBVD.
- Veterinary Health Certificate issued by a competent veterinary authority from the importing country
- Sales Contract
- Proforma Invoice
- Company registration certificate
- Certificate containing a full description or identification of the animals
Step (2)
LVBD reviews and processes the application. For incomplete and incorrect application, the LBVD informs exporter with reason. If application is rejected, the process ends here. For the complete and correct application, the LBVD issues the import recommendation to the importer. The importer can continue to apply the import license at the Ministry of Commerce.
Step (3)
Upon arrival in Myanmar, importer shall submit Animal Quarantine Certificate at designated port or border gate animal quarantine stations. Along with AQC, the importer shall submit the application for testing of each of the animals.
Step (4)
The veterinary officer from the quarantine station at the border or port will process the application and check the imported animals before allowing to bring into the country. If the diseases are found, the animal shall be kept at the quarantine station. The period of the quarantine should not be less than 10 days or more. If the diseases are free, the importer will be allowed to carry the animals into the country. The fees shall be paid by the importer.
- Quarantine fee: 2,000 kyats per head
- Health Certificate: 2,00 kyats per head
The overall process will take from 7 to 10 days.
