Procedures for Obtaining Food Export Health Certificate (EHC)
Step 1
Exporter obtains, completes and submits application for food Export Heath Certificate along with necessary supporting documents to the Department of Food and Drug Administration (FDA) under the Ministry of Health. The supporting documents must contain Buyer’s specification, Export Declaration, Bill of lading/ Invoicing/ Packing list, and the food item with original packaging or if food item with big size packaging is uneasy to provide, a photo or branding of such food item is required to provide to the FDA. The sample amount will be 1500 g.
Step 2
FDA checks the documents, tests the provided sample food. For the incomplete and incorrect documents and if the testing is failed, exporters will receive the rejection letter with reason and the process will be end here.
Step 3
If the testing is passed, FDA will issue food Export Health Certificate (EHC). The exporter collects the certificates and the process end here.
Note: It will take a day at the Document and Sampling Receiving Unit. It may take minimum 1 to maximum 2 days for obtaining the approval from the Director General office. It will take minimum 1 to maximum 25 days for analyzing the sample products at the lab. The Overall process will take from minimum 14 to maximum 31 days.
